Default Bad cropping

Hey group,

I got this photo rejected for bad cropping: http://railpictures.net/viewreject.p...2&key=17736871

Now that I look at it, I think the reason for the rejection is those red signals in the distance, and a little too much sky.

Atatched is an improved (re-cropped) version.

Any suggestions?

Thank-you!

I don't like the two crossing bars on each side of the photo. My eye is not drawn to anything in particular. I would crop out the bar on the right. My 2 cents.

In my opinion, the crossing bars are simply elements of a common grade crossing... I don't think that there is anything wrong with either of the crossing gates.
I would say get rid of the cut off tree on the far left, and get rid of the blob of light on the far right. Maybe also include a bit more of the foreground.
Personally, I really like the shot overall... However it does appear to be somewhat oversharpened.

I don't think this one will make it on RP. The sky is under exposed and the angle puts the 2 cross bucks too far apart with nothing else of interest between them.

Roger that. I already decided to let this one go. I also think it doesn't really fit my image profile....I'm not really an artsy-fartsy shot kind-of-guy.

Thanks everyone for all your help!

I think it could work if you incorporated just one of the crossing gates, try recropping with just 1, you can fix the exposure in post.
