Default A question for future night shots

Hi again all! I had a question regarding night shots. I was trying to get a time expo shot of the gates going up but a truck came across after the gates went up and it messed my shot up. Would this shot have a chance, if there no truck came across? I was thinking of going out again to try this. Thanks for any feedback!

I don't think the truck is the only thing you have to worry about in this photo. The image is very blurry. It appears the camera was not completely stable (vibration is present). Even without the lights from the truck, the crossing signals appear to be overly exposed. What is the object on the bottom of the photo? It kinda looks like the hood of a car (?). The image is also not level.

I am far from being a night shots photographer, others can elaborate better.

Its hard to tell with the truck lights ruining the shot. I did one this one last winter on a quiet backroad late at night with no lights around except the car headlights to illuminate the crossbuck.

Yeah it was the hood of a car, i didnt have time to grab my tripod so i set it on the car, and held it with my hand, thats why it was blurry. Accurate judgement! Well done! Ryan, nice photo, is that on this website? If so, how many views does it have? Thanks!

Thats awsome!! Thanks for sharing! Thats what I hoped mine would come out like. I'm going out again tonight if the train leaves at a decent time. It's raining here so it should come out pretty cool.
