Don't quit until it is accepted, or a they PEQ it.

Sometimes it has taken 8 go arounds before they accept it.

PEQ's tend to come early, so if they are still giving you fixable reasons, then keep going.

Well after a vacation I revisited this and tried again.
I got the official it's dead rejection last night, backlit.
So just wanted to say thanks again for all the help/ advice

I wouldn't redo a photo 8 times for a paying client, much less a freebie cause such as this place.

First, see if you can do something about the leaves - they may be the part considered backlit. In this shot - not a great comparison but not bad, really - I have as much dark green as black, and a bit of lighter green also:
