Default Crashes seem to always happen at once

Seems like we could go for a couple of month's with no problems... then... BOOM !!!

September 6, 2007 (HAMMOND, Ind.) - A surveillance tape of a deadly crash is a reminder to drivers to use caution at rail crossings. Two children were killed in the accident that took place last weekend in Hammond, Indiana. The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District released the videotape to end speculation about how this fatal accident occurred. Officials say the lack of drop-down gates at the rail crossing had nothing to do with why two trains hit a minivan with a mother and four children in it.
The videotape, made by cameras on the nearby Hammond South Shore Line commuter rail station, shows the dark-colored minivan ahead of an eastbound CSX freight train. The van is moving through the commuter station's parking lot, apparently trying to get far enough ahead of the train to cross the tracks at Johnson Street. But the van driver apparently did not see the westbound freight train that collides into the van, pushing it into another collision with the eastbound train. Neighbors who saw the video on television Thursday morning were appalled. "Some people just don't care. They want to go and they take a chance," said Robert Taylor, Hammond. When police and rescue workers arrived at the scene Saturday they discovered the already dead bodies of two of the van's passengers at the CSX crossing where the accident happened there are signals but no gates.

September 8, 2007 (MAPLEHURST, Wis.) - A train and a truck collided in Taylor County this morning, leaving the 20-year-old truck driver dead. The sheriff's department is withholding the driver's name until relatives can be notified. But deputies have said the driver isn't a Wisconsin resident. Canadian National Railroad owns the train. Company officials alerted authorities to the crash about 8 a.m.

September 8, 2007(BARRINGTON, IL) - A 21-year-old Barrington man was killed Saturday after being struck by a westbound freight train in Barrington. The man was struck by the train traveling on the Union Pacific line west of Route 59.

September 9, 2007 - A freight train struck and killed a bicyclist Sunday evening in Kane County. Sheriff's deputies say the man was riding north on Engel Road near Burlington at about 5:30 p.m. It appears he may have been listening to an iPod or similar device as he approached the train tracks. Police say the crossing does not have an audible signal or gates. It has only a wooden sign. Police have not released the victim's name.

Well you know the old saying "when it rains it pours" its unfortunate to hear about these sad incidents and my prayers go out to the victims families but they are a part of railroading.
