Default Foreground clutter ??

Foreground clutter

Is the pole on the tender causing the problem ? The electric wires are almost invisible (or may be not for the screener !).

The real problem: the tender is not lettered "Rio Grande".

You have so many interesting photos of these excursions, really get around!

Maybe use one in the sequence before the engine gets to the pole, wires also seem less visible also, crop a little different if you think rule of thirds is a problem there??

That's a bullshit rejection, though I think the photo would benefit from a little more processing work. It needs more contrast, it looks kind of hazy and flat to me.

Just where the engine smoke is...

Wait...is it possible this scene was rejected because the engine smoked too much?????

If the loco was where the 2nd and 3rd wagons are in your shot, I think it would be better. For me, the pole in front of the loco tender draws attention to the wires and makes it worse than what it is.
