Default Personal photo stash

Upon reading another part of the forum, Im curious as to how many photos we have on RP.net vs. in our personal archives.

Currently, I have 87 pics on RP.net and over 6,500 photos on my hard drive as well as another 1000 in printed film form. The oldest of these photos are about 5 to 6 years old.

Lets hear some other numbers!

I personally have zero shots here, but have at least 300 on my site (railroads and everything else. In the personal "stash", there are probably 4,000-5,000 shots. Those are scattered about three CDs, and about 500 MB on my hard drive.

Quality over quanity...that's my motto.

Currently have 84 pics on RP
Digital camera is up to about 2,900 shots of which say about a third have been discarded (duplicate and really rubbish) - still need to weed out a few more.
Have 212 boxes of mostly 36 exposure slides (better / more interesting ones slowly getting scanned)
Some 32,000 film negatives (some of which will eventually get scanned)
Have to admit that I had (and still do have) a habit of taking several photos of a subject given the chance, so the actual number of subjects would be somewhat less than the total count of images.
To put that into context I have been taking photos for around 22 years.

471 on rp.net, 42 on my sites gallery, 1,400 in threads on my site, around 5,000 roster shots on http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/ and around 30,000+ on my HD. I've taken 10,399 photos this year so far.

It's only amazing if you get good photos. For example, yesterday I shot 147 photos, 68 of which were good shots, narrowed that down to 28 really good shots. Unfortunately most of my shots are never seen by anyone, that's the depressing thing to me.

Shell out a little bit of cash and make a website man. Try www.pbase.com, you can be the screener for your work.

Here I have a whopping 11 photos now, and thousands in my slide archives and on my two hard drives.

My first stint with RP had me with around 150 photos (don't remember exactly).

I'm in the mode now where I only upload what I consider to be my higher quality photos, not every last photo I take in good lighting. My very best stuff is kept on a separate hard drive that is going to be like a time capsule for me later on, only close friends and family get to see them.

I want it so that when people see my name, they think, "He does some really good stuff, what did he put up today?"

568 on RP with more to come in the next few days and somewhere around 8,000 on CD's, hard drives, and prints (since 2001). Thats strictly a guess though.

0 here at RP, 1800+ so/so shots at rrpicturearchives.net, and boxes of prints and slides that nobody will ever see because they suck (well, OK, there are a bunch of my sucky ones on rrpicturearchives.net already.)

So far I have 31 photos on RP and 499 on my hard drive. I have a few more that could probably get accepted to the database if I ever get around to uploading them!

13,095 on both hard drives since December 2005, when I bought the D70. Albeit I use the camera for taking pictures of things...other than trains (gasp!). Also about 200 varied shots taken back in the good ol' days with the Pentax K1000 - maybe 7 decent rail shots on film...Around 2400 of my digital shots are railroad-related, of which 40 are on railpictures.net. So, 1 out of every 60 of my railroad shots are composed, exposed, and have a good enough motive to get here - not bad I guess, considering I only started to take rail photos seriously in the last 8 months!

If we are counting non-rail related photos than put me in the 40,000 - 50,000 category.

Here's a scarrier question, what percent of your stash would you consider to be top quality?

I started with RP a few months back and have been digging though my negatives and slides ever since. A quick look to my left and right and I'd have to say I have about 81 square feet!

As for RP, my next photo will mark #100!

In the perspective of your question Mitch, I'll say that less than 10% of my stuff uploaded to RP is my "Top Quality stuff". Granted I only have 11 photos up at this point, but that's a percentage I expect to maintain.

I don't want my best stuff out there yet. A few years maybe, If I'm dead by then, oh well. My family will sell them in the yard sale or something. LOL
