Any of you guys out there can help me with this? I have no idea as to where to crop or what. I do have quite a large file to play with if it needs any adding anywhere
Many thanks Dave

It is taken through a bridge and the bridge support is on the right hand side just where I cropped. I have plenty on the left but that's not much good

Okay. Well I'll let someone else comment and see if they can help you. It is a nice pic, though.

I would try more sky, less water. I'd like to see a bit more on the left - the full arch of the distant bridge. But RP may have a greater insistence than I do for the subject not being too far to the right.

Hey, at least it was not dinged for "blurry".
I like it - takes a steady hand for a pan like that.
Background's a bit of a "mess", but the pan makes up for it.
Maybe try to center the train - get some symmetry.
Bad crop, poor composition is often "RP speak" for too much somewhere, in
this case, maybe the right, unless you had that whole arch.

The photo is dominated by a strong set of horizontal lines. You could crop up from the bottom, extend the sides as much as possible to create a dramatic panorama. But oops, that violates the RoT.

To be picky, that doesn't violate the rule of thirds, it violates RP's format preferences, which don't include panorama formats. Still a no-go for RP.
I like the shot too. I think it can be saved, RP-wise, keep trying.

Thanks everyone. I came back after a couple of days away and decided to go out from the picture as I did have plenty to play with. Guess they liked this one. Many thanks for your help, I will be calling again without doubt

Haha I think someone doesn't like it.
I think we have all gotten lucky on screener roulette at some point.

That's not it at all, I thought the original one was better than the second one. I find the bridge support in the second one unnecessary and distracting. I think a better cropped version of the original would have been better.
