Not to jump to Troy's defense - because he can take care of himself, but I think I know what he is alluding to, and that is that some people will blow rainbows and butterflies up a person's wazoo over something that a person does, simply because they worship that person for whatever reason.

Which is fine, but the others who are standing around ("standing" is used figuratively) observe this and can't figure out why, because the object of their affection is not the best work that is done by the alleged person being worshiped.

I notice this phenomena surrounding one of the screeners on this Site.

He could put up a picture of a turd laying on the railroad tracks and all of the fans would just fall over themselves telling him how great the picture is, and me (who is also a fan) would be looking at it and going "why did he put a picture of a turd on there?"

Sort of the emperor's new clothes hypothesis.

In this instance, the subject picture is fine, but it is honestly not one of the ones that make me go "wow."

And Dan has put out a lot of "wow" over the years.
