So, is that the most photographed spot in the US?

I would say it is in the top 5 or 10, but not from this angle.

Most out-of-towners don't know how to get to where we are standing and all the people who were there that day are locals that I know and bump into all the time.

Here is the view from a more normal angle.

I'm from out of town, and I've been there (and all over the place...).

I wish I could have seen the 844 going up Cajon, though...

I stand corrected: "Most" people from out-of-town.

Oh and I forgot, it also requires that a person do some walking.

More than 15 feet from the car.

Which is why you don't see many images from this spot.

If you want to get a shot in the Cajon Pass that is different than the ones that most people take, you need to get on a pair of good boots and some think pants and do a little bushwhacking up a hill side or two.
By the way, what are "think pants?"

Or, for the non clickers:

If you want to get a shot in the Cajon Pass that is different than the ones that most people take, you need to get on a pair of good boots and some thick pants and do a little bushwhacking up a hill side or two. Here, a group of us watch UP #844 climb the grade near the power line road as it approaches C.P. Silverwood (the signal) where it will swing around to our right and go over the summit.

BNSF Cajon Subdivision near C.P. Silverwood.

Cajon Pass - San Bernardino County, California.

I must say, having never gone to Cajon, that this view looks pretty much like all the other views. What is special about it?

Oops, meant to leave in the other part, asking about the misspelling.

This, coming from the guy who does not know how to pluralize words referring to values between 1 and 2.

Keep policing, Jim!

I actually must thank you for pointing that out - which I have subsequently edited.

As you can see from the comments on Flickr, you were not the first one to point that out and I was awful slow on the uptake.

Editing your own work is always the hardest because one's brain tends to fill in the gaps which is why the error is there in the first place.

Too bad I can't blame it on an IPhone.

See the other thread

And you do like to point out little writing quibbles, although to me it is pretty clear that you are not policing but rather giving guff. And back at ya, I say.

I would be very weary about going there in the summer.

When it is cold, we can tromp around out there almost at will, but come April the true rulers of the pass will once again become active and our travels in the bush will become limited.

I have yet to step on one, but that could happen even on an open dirt road since they are really hard to see, even in plain sight.

Part of the reason for the boots and the "think pants" - cause I "think" I will be safe.

That is Hill 582 at MP 58.2.

Ever Wanted to Know What Hill 582 Looks Like?

I feel like you missed the point of my comment in that other thread.

And feel free to give me guff...I can take it as much as I can dish it.
