Default Georgia Northeastern sold

Another independent shortline goes into the fold of a holding company. Patriot Rail is the buyer, although in the filing they cite "no significant changes" to the GNRR and Blue Ridge Scenic RR operations.

That said, a locomotive roster renewal will occur soon. The time to shoot the older GNRR power is now.

I did make a stop by the GNRR earlier this week, and found that significant trackwork along the line has the road train running on a late afternoon call time (virtual darkness this time of year after job briefings and the train is assembled and air tested).

Things will improve as longer days return, so those wanting to photograph the road train might want to postpone a visit until spring.

Night photography enthusiasts may find this to be great news...
