Passing of BurghMan
Since I see nobody has posted yet, it's with sadness that I must inform you of the passing of Richard Borkowski, known as BurghMan over here. He had a large body of work which will be familiar to many.

Very sad indeed. And he and I shared the same birthday.
On facebook, Ian H said he died from West Nile virus. Was this the result of a mosquito bite?

Oh, shit. I saw that on Facebook, but did not know his real name. That's horrible. I don't even know what to say.

Correct. Rich was very ill most of the summer. He was an excellent friend, photographer, railroader, and most importantly, father. I will miss him greatly.

I know it's been mentioned several times, but I wanted to reiterate how great of a father Rich was. It wasn't uncommon to run into him and his son trackside.
The day my son was born he sent me the kindest text message. He was truly a good person.

One of a kind.. I lost a friend, but the world lost so much more. Rich was an author, pilot, fantastic photographer & most importantly a great father. I can't express in words what a good guy he was.

My condolences to friends and family... you just never know, do you?
Taken much, much too early.
Though I never met Rich, he was someone I looked forward to viewing the success of his work on RP. Caught my eye many times and have left many comments expressing my appreciation of his efforts.

There is a nice tribute to him by Norfolk Southern on page 15 of the new Trains magazine this month, the December issue.

NS included one of his photos in the 2014 calender as well as a note about Rich's passing. Very classy move between the Trains ad and this.
