Composition (too tight)
http://www.railpictures.net/viewreje...72&key=3795283
Reason(s) for Rejection:
- Composition (Too Tight): The image is too tightly composed, meaning that there is not enough space between the subject and the edges of the photo.
Is this perhaps borderline? Or is my idea of composition completely at odds? I was trying to avoid excessive shadow as the train was running too late for this shot. With so much shadow, back lighting and side angle there were not a lot of options in very steep scrubby terrain.

Do you have a shot or two where the power isn't at the right hand edge of the photo? I think the issue is that the train is really crowding the right hand of the frame.

I have a shot with locomotives on the bridge perfectly balanced which would be fine for composition. But the bridge handrail hides the wheel detail and I don't particularly like it - maybe the screener won't either. Only one way to find out! I link to Facebook post of this photo for reference... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...&theater&ifg=1

And now a shot that seems to strictly comply with rule of thirds gets shot down for composition. Somehow this is awkward? Too much dead space?
http://www.railpictures.net/viewreje...82&key=9225514
Reason(s) for Rejection:
- Composition (Balance): The subject is awkwardly positioned in the frame. RailPictures.Net prefers that images are composed in keeping with the 'Rule of Thirds' meaning that, in most circumstances, the focal point of the image should not be directly in the center of the frame, or too close to any of the edges.

Not that it would make a difference getting accepted I'd like to see more of a description(like your prior post of this train) and generally RP images you see accepted are more like your prior post, maybe crop a little right and top as the train just seems to sit on the left and really not much to see on the right..
Anyway always wanted to go New Zealand but time is running out and with everything else now??? I'd accept it just for not being what we see every day. I try to look daily but sometimes can't move through fast enough.

The bridge rejection screams 'wider' to me. That may not have been possible due to position or equipment.

Thanks guys. I'll wait a while before trying anything with this one or another frame I got. We're in lock down over here so time for a catch up with photo loading. Mixing it up a bit so I don't end up with 60+ shots of anything. LOL.

You made me look that one up. I thought Murica was the WV Governor!

An earlier frame now accepted with obviously better composition per rule of thirds but not my preferred shot.
