PAQ - Abandoned Rails -Some make it some dont

I thought try my hand on a abandoned rail pic. This pic didn't suit RP and got the PAQ rejection. I'm posting this thread not to fuss over the rejection but merely to hear your objective point of view and suggestions (for my next trip out) if you were presented with the opportunity to shoot this location or one similar.

I've seen many sections of worse-looking track that were in daily use. This just doesn't convey the sense of abandonment that you are suggesting, IMHO.

I agree with Doug. Except for the lack of shine on the rails, it really doesn't have the aura of abandoned things.

Don't know if it's just me, but the image quality seems to be a bit lacking in the rejected photo.

There's nothing about this shot that makes it worthy of having. Nice story, but the photo itself really does not indicate anything

It's definitely not just you. The image is way oversharpened.

That's hallowed ground there, a twofer since the legendary Colorado Midland also ran through at the base of the mountain.

Much as I like the scene, it's not obviously railroad related.

Thanks to all for your input and at the suggestion of another railfanner, I will revisit this location and other spots on this line later this year when all the vegetation is all grown back and the leaves are out the trees, maybe then this scene will convey the 20 plus years of abandonment. Or better yet, America gets back on its industrialized feet and the customers return so I can share pics of trains rolling these rails again!

The lighting also looks very harsh. I'm surprised it didn't get a high sun rejection.

I originally started this post and the pic I submitted and the time got the PAQ rejection. So I revisited the location at a different time of the year and I got the PAQ rejection, again. Considering all the previous comments I believe the new pic conveys those opinions/suggestion but apparently still not good enough for RP. Maybe it still does not meet yours either but for me, other than the bridge falling down, I dont know how worse this scene/location could get in terms of defining "abandoned rails"

It just doesn't have the instant look of 'abandoned', like one of my junkers from the past.. no doubt it is abandoned (but is now back in service lol).

Well, the weeds could be higher, the trees could be encroaching more, the ties could be more rotten...

I tried another shot different at a location. Trees growing in, trough and over nothing but the rails visible....
Guess I will move on and keep this subject for the "project " in progress.

There is a grade crossing behind me, and the company who did the paving work on it simply bulldozed the track out of the way as it was abandoned years previous. I need to get around to posting some photos of the line back in service now.
