Default Hello from Indy (pic)

Hello everyone.
I am a freelance photographer here in Indianapolis. Trains have always been a love of mine, probably started by my father who was a pretty serious Model Railroader.

Anyway, I work for several fire departments as well as for the newspaper and try to capture things I love on my spare time (weather, trains, wildlife, etc..)

If you're interested, I recently covered an enormous train wreck here in Indy. You can find the photos on my website.

Below is a shot I took a few weeks ago.

I look forward to geting to know most of you.

-Tod

Welcome, Tod. Your photos are very interesting and show perspectives that most of us will never see in person. Thanks for sharing.

Ouch...this doesn't look too good:

Welcome to RailPictures.net Todd!

On a side note, I've actually been following your site for a few months now. I found it off of the Indiana Fire Trucks website. Your website is of particular interest to me as I have family that lives in Indy. Keep up the great work!

Hey, Todd;

Glad to see you here. I went through your fire pictures. Amazing stuff. I work at a TV station here in South Carolina; I've freelanced for newspapers prior to that, too. The best firefighter image I got was an old textile mill in Great Falls, SC --

I could never imagine what was going through that fireman's mind that day.

Oh sorry for being kinda off topic but you may know. I was up in indy in late august. I went up there for the NHRA US Nationals and I notice some railroad tracks. Im guessing they are CSX. But where does that line run to? Indy-St. Louis?

Alex, those are the former Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago & St Louis tracks. CSX now runs about 15-20 trains per day on that line. Avon Yard is located on the line just west of Indianapolis. I hope to make it out that way one day, so I did some research of the area.

Joe, I really like that picture. I think a tight crop in (above the wires) would make it even more powerful. Good stuff.
