Am I the only one on obscar who is moderated? I post stuff all the time but it never shows up. I am about to unsubscribe from it because it keeps filling up my inbox. Last week it was the rat, now it's the virtues of shooting in cloudy weather

Nothing goes to my inbox. I view obscar like a forum, not a mailing list. It's much easier that way.

It makes me feel loved when I wake up to 20 new emails.
Then I read them and realize I hate everything and everyone.
That's why I'm unsubscribed for the time being :P

75 new emails this morning, i'd say half are about this stupid light thread, I need to re-think how my yahoo groups emails are configured.

Exclamation ObsCar

I have them go to my deleted box in outlook.

That way I can open the deleted e-mail to view them if I wish.

Also, I would agree they take rivet counting to a whole new plateau.

Default Obscar

Obscar would be more interesting if they referred more to actual photos. Pontifications, rants and deep discussions about the virtues of light and other photo elements without actual photos are absolutely pointless.

Yeah heres what I've gathered from Obscar since I've been a member:

You suck unless you use a tripod.. And a $1600 lens with image stabilization performs best on a tripod..

There is no such thing as poor lighting......

Real photographers do not own photo editing software..

Get them in daily digest form.

I personally have had a problem with those trying to tell us to turn railroad photography into an "art form." It's fine for them to do so, I welcome it in fact, but what I do have a problem with is that the practitioners of the more "arty" shots, I have found, tend to look down their nose's at others who are shooting more "mundane" shots.
Railroad photography is what you make of it, but one way is not "better" than another, IMHO. Unless you have a pole right thought the nose of the engine! -SG

I knew that before I knew obscar existed. The frightening part is how many similarities there are between us...
I think I first saw his photos on here, and thought they were TERRIBLE examples of night flash work.
