Default EJ&E sale approved

http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=260419
The sale of the J to CN was approved this morning. There will be a bunch of crabby people in the fancy suburbs today. And railfans with above average income, now would be the time to pick up a bargain in Barrington.

Beat me to it! A victory for logic over emotional idiocy!

I heard that Barrington spent $2 million trying to defeat this merger. Alternatively, they could of spend over a hundred times less and negotiated with CN and probably gotten at least that much in benefits.

Wasn't that a great idea of Barrington to make CN angry? If it were up to me, I'd hang a cinder block on the horn cord of the trains passing through there.
What did those people think it was passing through town, a roller coaster? Anyone who lived there in 1887 can complain, the rest need to calm down.

Some people really need to get their facts straight before they open their mouths. I never tire of hearing about this evil foreign company, Canadian National, helping to destroy America. Largely owned by American stockholders, run by a virtually all-American management team out of Chicago, yet us evil Canadians are behind it.

So CN completes the collectors set of mega USX roads... EJ&E, B&LE, DM&IR.

They still need the Union and the BS, the latter of which would arguably fit in nicely at CN...

Now that I think about it... Does anybody have any opinions on the future of the B&LE with the CN system? Might they eventually look to unload it to, perhaps, G&W or another shortline system, or does it fit in well with the water-based operations?

I was thinking more of the larger fmr USX roads.

If some of the ore that the DM&IR hauls to the water ends up on the B&LE, I think they'll keep it. The B&LE has more going for it than the fmr CN lines that CN just repurchased up here in Canada.
