Default Pittsburgh Guys... Help Me ID Location

This shot is too dark and grainy for RP, but it's a shot that I took back on June 22, 1984 and I don't know where I was.

I was driving from Cleveland to the old Pittsburgh airport when I saw this train, and I believe I am on the south bank of the Alleghany River, somewhere here (but I could be completely wrong).

Can any of you Pittsburgh guys tell me if you recognize this location? Just want to know where I was.

Charles, I can't tell at all. There's a small snippet of a bridge in the background but being the city of bridges, that could be anywhere Also, the south bank of the Alleghany is throwing me off a bit. Can you think of any landmarks or anything that were around at the time?

Ben,

The only thing I recall for sure is that I took the Ohio Turnpike to the Pennsylvania Turnpike to whatever highway from there I would take to the old airport.

I thought I had crossed the Alleghany and then saw this train, but as it's 25 years ago, I 'd be willing to bet I was wrong. My memory, however, was that I was somewhere near Pittsburgh when I saw this train.

Sorry, I know with that lack of information and the look of the location, it will be hard to tell.

Charles

That far up leads me to believe the Monaca / Beaver area. Old Chessie lines/ now CSX are prominent on the 'southern banks' of the OHIO river. The Allegheny is a good 10-15 miles East of the Airport, at least where it meets the Mon at the point. That's my best guess, the Beaver valley area.

I'm certainly not a Pittsburgh guy, but could it be west of Coraopolis and just east of the Sewickley Bridge on the (at the time) P&LE?

I just got the same answer on another forum of Coraapolis... and I realized that in my lack of P'Burgh knowledge, it was probably the Ohio, not the Alleghany.

Thanks so much.
