Default Chattanooga - Cleveland TN

I have occasion to be driving from Chattanooga TN airport to Cleveland TN tomorrow afternoon. Any locations worth stopping at? I am not looking to make a big outing of this and will have only a P/S and no scanner.

Well, I try to do some "yard hopping" when I'm away and so I've been to Chat twice. The racks at DeButts are visible from 3rd Street going out of town. That's where I got this:

I'm sure there are more spectacular places, cause the whole region is great, I just don't know where they are.

Also, you can see the hump from Wilcox Rd:

Chattanooga itself has some great spots. I haven't been there in a long time, but what I have saw on previous trips make me want to go back. I know this is the complete wrong direction, but if you drive out west 24 about 10 miles, you will come up to a really awesome bridge which spans the highway. I've always wanted to get pics there, but we've never actually stopped. Problem is, I have no idea about train frequency or anything like that, so you would kind of be on your own.

Chattanooga has a lot of cool locations, but a lot of them are very inaccessible or difficult to get to. The yards themselves are not in the best parts of town and hard to access. Tennbridge is easy access and about the best spot to railfan. Out by Wauhatchee Yard (CSX) is some opportunities.

Why would you go on a trip somewhere and not take your DSLR? I don't go to the grocery store down the street without mine!

I get what you are saying about a "trip", but that's a bad move.

Got some nice shots of a house on fire by taking my camera down the street to the store. I got there before the firefighters.
