Default Apache Railway in Arizona shutting down

Here's some very unwelcome news. One of the few bastions of Alcos left in the United States will cease operations 9/30/12:

Even worse for all those people who will lose their jobs, too. The Apache was a great visit, and even with all the attention the railroad receives, they remained relatively tolerant of visitors. This road will definitely be missed.

Man that sucks. Too bad I can't make a trip down there in the closing months. I always was impressed with the Alcos and how clean the railroad kept their great paint scheme. I guess there really is something worse than a G&W takeover.

Nikos, it's WAY too early in your career to be throwing an ETTS around... LOL

I recently read something that another company might buy that paper mill. Their might be some hope left still. Time will tell.
