Default Much that could be done... help!

I have two decent photos that I want to submit, the only issue here is that both could definitely use the cropper's touch. I know how to crop photos, but I am horrible at deciding what to and not to crop.

The two photos follow. The second will need much more help then the first, but both need help. I'm putting in 800x600 photos to save bandwith, I will crop the higher resolution ones on my disk to match yours. Thanks again!

EDIT: The problem was solved, we no longer need to waste bandwidth.

On your first photo I would suggest the left hand side, starting at the little shack. Maybe the whistle sign on the right hand side.

On the second some on the right. I don't know if you want to keep the signal or not, but some cropping on the right should greatly enhance the photo.

I would like to keep the signal, the searchlights on the San Diego Subdivision are slowly disappearing in favor of trilight signals.

I like the second shot, could use a slight rotate. The picture has good light and seems crisp. The first shot, a nice angle, nice train, but it seems backlit or the sun is simply too high. Don't be surprised if the first one is rejected for backlit/sun too high

Definitely an all-around tighter crop on the second photo.
BTW, is that a dome car in the middle of the train?

I was so busy tinkering around with the photo I forgot all about the Great Dome 10031. That is usually used on the Surfliner, but not on this trainset.

Normally, there is only one Horizon fleet trainset in service (It goes up from L.A. to Obispo as 799 and back as 798), but an additional Horizon fleet trainset is brought in for the summer season.
