Yea and thats a shame, cause Amtrak service isnt even close to the real thing. The cars are horrible and ride terrible, the service is almost non-existant, and the trains are boring.

We've been told that the last car is the roughest ride. There were times that I thought the train was going to leave the tracks (no pun intended). They're increasing the speed limit by 30 MPH between Joliet and Springfield. The speed limit will now be 110 MPH. UP has fixed up the tracks and made the crossing gates cover the whole road. They are also talking about placing nets by the crossing to prevent cars from going around the gates. The superliners are as smooth as can be.

Nick,
Never been in a Superliner, and will probably never ride one. Seen too many videos of the top heavy cars turning over in accidents. Some may disagree with this but, I will take a heavyweight Pullman car anyday on the mainlines of America. The thickness of the steel and sheer weight of these classics makes them ride better IMO and makes them safer IMO. 110 MPH is moving! Need to get N&W 611 up there with the old trainset behind her and break in that new speed limit

It sure would be sweet to get NW 611 over here in Illinois. I should quit dreaming, though. I railfan in Lockport, where Amtrak has a 79 MPH speed limit. The limit through Lockport will remain the same, though. It sure will be different seeing them do 110. Have a great night.

Nick

Eh, I still go the point of this thread wrong cause there were only three real responses and they were allll the way at the beginning. I started to read backwards and lost interest very fast. ::yawn:: I would love to go out to Montana and do any/all lines out there. I am hoping I can take a few weeks to go up to Alaska in a few years, which I think would put to rest my craving for scenery. I also want to go back to North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia to shoot the short lines which I dry-paced this past year. I would also like to see as many shortlines as humanly possible in my lifetime. Those ore trains in Australia look pretty sweet too!

How do you know he is "Banned"? You can customize your profile using the user CP. If he were really banned he wouldn't be able to post.

I would love to see Cajon Pass, Ca!

For me in Hong Kong ,
there are only few places for you to railfan .
Unless you do something that is illegal .

I would like to go to the road that next to the
Sheung Shui Slaughter House .
It is because I can take photos of the local freights
and additional trains that go to the Slaughter House .

But it is located far away from the Sheung Shui station ,
so it is hard to go there .

I have never been to there .

I would like to see the B and O museum.

Max speed were I work is 79 mph for passenger trains, and 70 mph for freight. But there is always speed restrictions due to "Form A's", "Form B's", and other types of speed limitations like the type of cars you are pulling.

Yeah, you're right Glenn. "Noone" cares. Just to be on the safe side, I'll take Frograil's word over yours.
