How To Resize

The image you attempted to upload is larger than our maximum approved image width of 1200 pixels wide. Please reduce the image to a maximum width of 1200 pixels width using image editing software, then resubmit. I must admit......I've forgotten. My computer is a MacBook Pro.

In your post, you didn't really ask a question, although I think the viewers are all assuming that you are looking for help in resizing your photos. As Troy indicated in his post, in order to help you, we really need to know what software you are using to edit your photos.

The rejection you received is pretty standard if you tried to upload something that exceeds the RP limits. It's also not in your best interest to do that, as uploading larger images to any public portal on the web would leave them open to theft by unscrupulous parties. Typically, I post images that are 1024 x 683 pixels and less than 1MB in size. They look fine on the internet, but would not meet the requirements of most publishers....and that's by design. Pretty much all of us here have had images misused/stolen at one time or another.

I lost all memory of what I used before...stroke. I'm on my 4th MacBook Pro. Did I use there in-house iPhoto? I also used PhotoBucket to get copies hmmail. Now PhotoBucket is a swamp of advertisment. The MacBook Pro no longer has iPhoto....some stupid "memories". Apple is always making more stupid. I'm lost.

Resizing is easy with IrfanView. Just select "resize/resample", enter the desired width or height, decide whether to sharpen the result, and click OK.

The price is right for a lot of features: free.

Well, you may be lost but we need more to "find" you.

In particular, you need software to resize. If you are unable to tell us what is currently on your computer, hard to help. We can recommend some software, I suppose. I don't know what is available for free on Apple. For $80 or so Photoshop Elements has a full set of tools - waaaay more than just resizing and the basics.

It would also help to know what camera you use. For one, we need to know if you shoot raw because, if so, that limits your choices a bit. Budget is also important. And intent - basics, or more.
