Default No Appeal - No Fix - Just Sad and Sharing

There was only about a five second window to get this shot before the crowd descended...

Unfortunately, I had accidentally turned the auto focus off.

Nothing to do - can't be saved... wanted to share to say I'm sad though. Would have been so cool.

I feel your pain. I was going through some shots on line tonight that I can't ever reshoot wishing I had Doc Brown's DeLorean

Man - that is the worst part about scanning old shots. As slides, or even 4x6 prints, they looked sharp... but scanning 'em up and seeing you missed! Hate that.

Close enough in my book, but then sharpness has never been a concern of mine, nor noise.

Actually, seriously, where am I supposed to be looking? What is considered unsharp here? The grill-ed cover on the car exhaust below the door? I'm not seeing it. I would clean up the sky, pure blue skies on slides always do well with a bit of gaussian blur.

Fix the wide angle distortion and submit it. What else is the issue?

This version was run through sharpening twice already... and now it's starting to look jaggy, while still being soft.

But thanks for the words of encouragement guys... Maybe I'll try again in the AM... you've encouraged me.

The rank disappointment of thinking I'd taken such a cool shot and seeing that blur was a kick in the teeth.

WHERE IS THAT SOFTNESS, I shout.

I guess I see a bit on the numberboards of the Amtrak, but not the numberboards nor the nose number of the 3751. Is that what the issue is? And do I understand correctly, this has not been submitted for screening?

It was rejected.

J - you're making me think I'm overly critical - which is also making me happy. Will try again tomorrow.

It can still be sharpened a tad, a little noise reduction, and a little color, and I think you've got it.

D'ats cool - I clicked on it and it didn't work and I thought, oh great a virus.

I've been changing all my passwords ever since.

Okay - worked on it, did some spot sharpening. Will try again.

Cool stuff, with that Corvette you will get a lot of views.

F/8 corrects a lot of focusing ills! Do you recall, when you were previously on manual, what was the focus distance? Just curious.

J - it had been for the same distance (was shooting the steam engine coming in from the other end of the platform).

Weird thing, is that I hadn't turned it off on purpose... somehow did it while running down the platform to get this shot.

Yes... F8 saved the day for sure.

^ Yea, 63-67 are my favorite corvettes. If I was ever to own one, that would be it. Second would be a 58-60.

Neat shot. Just wondering what connection the Organizers found for a Tea Kettle from the 40's, a Vette from the 60's and a Screamer from the 70's?

Honestly don't know - but don't think it was a theme of any kind, just three older pieces of transpo in the same location at the same time.
