Default big thrill today

today after spotting our last car on the siding ,I climb back up up into the cab of our GE 70 tonner, my boss who was the engineer today told me to sit my ass of in his seat ,he was going to teach me how to run to loco.So I sat down, listened to his instructions and when it was time, I let the brakes off an eased on the throttle bring the old girl to life.I only got to run for a mile or 2 but what a rush,to finally get to drive a train ,it what I've been wanting to do all my life

Great experience. There sure aren't many 70 Tonners out there any more. Are you able to say what railroad this is? Understand if you wish that to remain de-identified for any reason. Regardless, thank you for sharing your experience.

Too cool! I know a lot of people that have wound up with shortline jobs that way. Just a matter of being at the right place at the right time, or hang around for a while, and you just might find yourself with a job...
