Then you may love or hate me ---

This was my show. I was very proud of it (and all of us were huge TZ fans when we made it). We got killed because Enterprise (our lead in) never got anywhere near the ratings of Voyager.

This show getting cancelled was the end of my two decades as an exec.

Don't look at me, I loved Enterprise, the awful TNG movies did more to kill the franchise than anything.

They didn't give Enterprise enough of a chance. Although I thought the guy from Quantum Leap wasn't a very good choice, he did ok. I liked it better than Deep Throat 9. That bitch's voice annoyed the hell out of me to the point I couldn't watch it.

The last "new" Star Trek movie sucked. They absolutely defiled the legacy of Kahn with that piece of shit. I was VERY disappointed, I thought the first JJ Abrams movie was pretty good and had high hopes going forward until I had heard they were going to "reboot" Kahn and then ultimately saw what a disgrace it was... There was no reason to go and re-do Wrath of Kahn.

This was all extremely confusing to me until I talked to my wife and then googled and found that revivals were done of the original, of which yours was the second. Never heard of it at the time, sorry. And my wife in particular is a huge (original) TZ fan. Just haven't lived in a TV watching family for many years not. Nothing but DVDs of older shows for year, and, since having kids, no TV shows at all.

The first revival was done by a great group of guys, a couple of whom I am very good friends with. The second revival (mine) was something I was quite proud of, but it never found an audience.

By and large, tv and movies nowadays is total rubbish. Especially TV, with a couple exceptions (Breaking Bad, Mad Men). Nothing on network TV interests me outside of sports really anymore. Law and Order was really the last Network TV drama that I liked, and the last couple of seasons they kind of mailed it in too... sitcoms now are ludicrous.

And movies seem to be targeted at an audience that has the attention span of about 20 seconds. Plot development just does not exist because I guess people cant handle "thinking" while watching movies. Characters have no depth. Special effects and wacky "twists" which make no sense seem to be the order of the day. And dont get me started on the Tarrantino type directors who go out of their way to have the actors talk in a manner no one in the world does (See: Pulp Fiction and any movie by Wes Anderson).

I agree with much of what you say here. The storytellers have mostly been pushed out by the showmen. The problem is that the public pay much more to go see what the showmen make than to see what the storytellers make.

Charles is practically as old as you.....

And the Troy, well deities don't age, so he already could be 1000's of years old.

Course that is based on Earth years and the orbit periods of other planets vary, so who knows.

A box of cookies purchased on the day of my birth were likely still edible on the day of HG's birth.

Commercially sold cookies can last for a decade, I suspect, if the seal is unbroken.
