Default Too similar??

Hello all! I had this photo rejected for being similar to another:
http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject.php?id=279022

I'm assuming that they were referring to this photo:
http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=155135

In the rejected photo, I was trying to make the focus on the engines, and in the accepted one, the focus was on the crewman directing the 2056 back. Is it worth an appeal? Thanks a lot!

Well I'd appeal it, just because they're both oranges doesn't mean they came from the same tree, or something like that! The ONLY similarity is the engines, the shots aren't even close to being similar.

But it needs to be rotated to the left probably .5-7.

Maybe the screener was trying to encourage you to be more selective. That is: to submit the best SINGLE photo of a group of parked units, instead of several shots which, although they're different, still depict the same group of units.

They may not have been referring to an accepted photo. If there is a rejected photo that you've uploaded that its similar, they probably used that rejection because it was similar to a rejected photo.

The overall quality of the rejected image isn't the best. Lots of noise/grain/pixelation.

I'd work on the contrast of the rejected shot a bit as well. The silver on the engines and the blue of the sky are almost the same color. It also kinda feels like it may be leaning a bit towards the right. I do like what you did with the accepted shot-it's great to have railroaders that aren't camera shy, and that really adds something to the shot!

In general, I think that's what the "similer" reject means, but only one of those shots is of a group of parked units. The breakman is clearly the subject in the accepted on (and a great shot btw).

I think it's more likely that the breakman shot wasn't the similer shot, and rather it was all the other photos people have posted from that angle of that yard with that power there. Not to diss that angle or that yard or that power, its one of the best places to go get my train fix when I'm at school, but the fact is that shot has been done.

Thanks for the help guys. I've decided that I will try and fix the contrast along with the image quality, and then resubmit. If any screeners are opposed to this, please let me know. I plan on re-uploading it late tonight or very early tomorrow. Thanks again!
