Default Train - In a Station - Poor Aesthetic Quality?

This shot was rejected for poor aesthetic quality.

http://www.railpictures.net/viewreje...47&key=9566258

Usually, I can understand this rejection reason without much difficulty. But, although this is never going to win a PCA, is it of such little interest to the viewers of this site?

Do you agree with them, or have they pressed the wrong button and should have rejected it for something else?

Or maybe, instead of Poor Aesthetic Quality, we should read, "Plain Boring".

RP generally does not go for end-of-train shots that are too rostery - the red markers are on. The technical info could have won them over, but I guess not - the screener may not have bothered to read it. I know it isn't a roster, it has people on the platform, but still, the prominent subject is an end of train.

The problem may be that those are among the ugliest things out there in railroad land! Well, not so much ugly as goofy. I've never cared for them.

What is that object protruding into the lower left edge of the frame? RP is known to have issues with odd-looking things that are cut off, like body parts, etc.

I do agree with J's assessment though. RP only seems to like end-of-train shots when there's a nice caboose, or observation balcony....conductor guarding the rear on a back-up move, etc. The back of this car isn't very aesthetically pleasing.

That's not the back, it's the front. Well, actually it's both. You'd find the same thing at the other end of the train. I have to agree though that the train itself merits a PEQ rejection.

I denoted it the end of train, or the back, because it had the red market lights on.

Those things are so ugly they should only be viewed from a safe distance.

...because it's a lot nicer picture in general. Nicer station, lighting, less in-your-face, and headlights as opposed to red "market" lights on.

Though J is still quite right!
