Default People's Choice Awards

This week's awards are unique in that PCA#1 has less than 1000 views and 28 Favorites

But faves in theory should mean that the UP shot would be #1.

Views and faves don't have anything to do with PCAs.

Very true. I never vote for PCAs, and I rarely pick favorites. No good reason why...but I just don't. I pull up the pictures I like, and pass over the ones I don't care so much about (usually about 95 percent of 'em---many of which are mine!).

I suspect a lot of folks don't do the PCA voting thing.

That's a good point. Perhaps PCAs should be chosen by virtue of total views, rather than a separate vote, or even the fav thing. Simple...and a more accurate gauge of popularity.

I wonder what percentage of RP viewers even vote for PCAs...

Hi Ron,

If that were the case, the PCA ranks would be filled with nothing but derailments, skin shots and images that are linked all to hell on every social media site. I think the current PCA process is the best available option. It forces people with RP accounts to actually pick something they like vs. something they clicked, assuming they are motivated to participate. Interestingly, you don't see a ton of derailments in the PCA ranks.....which is as it should be IMHO.

I think the present method works fine enough. All 12 of the voters do a fine job on PCA nominations

Yep, PCA voting sure is rare..... I do it once in a blue moon if something really grabs my attention.

Exactly... In the case in question, I'd guess that quite a lot of people have clicked on and favourited the steam photo for nostalgia reasons or because they're interested in the engine in one way or another. However Kostas photo of a modern greek unit is not as interesting as a railfan, but is the better photograph. Therefore its right (IMHO) that it got the PCA.
