Default VA will pay most of cost for Intermodal Rail Yard in Roanoke Region

From the Roanoke Times:

"State will pay most of cost for intermodal rail yard in Roanoke region.

"Gov. Tim Kaine and Norfolk Southern Chairman "Wick" Moorman signed an
agreement today that puts more than $22 million in state funds toward
improving the Heartland Corridor rail line through Roanoke.

"The state money will cover 70 percent of the cost for an intermodal
rail yard that Norfolk Southern plans to build in the Roanoke region
within three years.

"Roanoke Delegate William Fralin called it the biggest economic
development event for Roanoke in 20 years."
