My guess would be that you didn't give the image any air to breathe. The shot would benefit from some more space on either side of the train.

Well I could give it more room. Problem is there is a tank car on the side that is distracting. Ill try something else...Thanks!

I'd say maybe go higher too to get some more of the heat waves. Looks kinda centered vertically.

I like the photo, but what I learned from everyone on my last photo's of the Yadkin Valley Railroad lol, those tall buildings in the background would be nice backdrops for the photo. And like Freericks has already said, some more room to breath would be good. And even if there is a tank car on the near track, that would be a little more something else to look at in the photo.

Well there is a telephone pole infront of the tank car. So another distracting object. Thanks

As other people have said, that photo is cropped a little to tightly. It is a good shot otherwise!

Guys,

First of all, after a long trip, i'm back to the forum, finally in Sao Paulo, Brazil for vacations, and will make the Metropolitano, Mafersa train shots!

I don't see the bad cropping, more space on either side of the train doesn't needed because NSFan14 wants to show as long is the train on the shot.

I think only the heat waves is a bad criteria for this photo.

I know you were going for a tight crop and a lot of times, that works. Here, however, it's just too tight, esp. on the right side of the frame, but generally all the way around. If you can, loosen it up or chose an exposure prior to this one.

Just want to say is a really nice pic, well centered, and with good light!

I disagree with the RP screeners!

Alex,

Unrelated note, but did you upload the second of these two shots by mistake?

Taken five seconds apart according to the .exif data. This one is better. You see his face. Great shot, actually.

Why? The accepted photo is a much more balanced composition.
