Default Standard Cab Dash 8s are Alcos

Recently seeing a standard cab Dash 8 in a deadline and finding myself pulling out a tripod to get a telephoto shot of the front coupled unit, I realized that we have reached the point that these units now hold the meaning to me that six axle Centuries did in the late 1970s... Time changes everything.

1) Standard Cab Dash 8s are Alcos

2) SW1500s are RS3s

3) SD40-2s are F units

4) SD9043MACs are SD24s

5) GP60s and GP60Ms are GP9s

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Have to say, as weird (and I do mean weird) as the ACe front end is, at least it's different than the SD70M. GE went with that cab on the Dash 8 and here we are 22 years later (I think that's right) on GEVOs that look exactly the same.

Okay, EMD did pretty much the same from the GP35 to the SD60, but the engines look wildly different behind the cab. Come on folks... let's change it up. The internal difference between a wide cab Dash 8 and a GEVO is massive... why do they look so similar?

Widecab GEs are your standard SD40-2. Do y'all agree?
