Colour Advice

Is this perhaps just oversaturated? Another thing I was struggling with was the best angle... since the camera was low and on an angle to the tracks it was difficult to determine the most level point.

Does it seem fuzzy or unsharp at all? I was getting comments from another site that said this, but upon looking at it close up it really didn't seem like an issue.

I looked at the shot and thought to myself, boy that is some sort of freaky blue on the signal bridge level, and blues and greens on the train, weird.

Then I read the caption and all was clear. So one possibility is the caption went unread - next time mention the Holiday Train in the remarks to the screener also.

But a question - I thought that train had a bunch of red lights, why do I see mostly blues and greens here?

Seems to have more bluish lights than anything else:

The signal bridge looks undersharpened IMO.

Maybe a little too much blue. The sides of the structure outboard of the train also have a blue cast. Maybe there were nearby streetlights that added their own unique color? Wouldn't hurt to try warming the photo up a bit.

PS. Crop from the bottom, you have a lot of really boring space there.

Yeah I really felt that as well, unfortunately to keep the signal bridge in full as well as the moon it needed to stay.

The LED strings outlining the cars and locomotive alternate between red, blue, green and off. The "Canadian Pacific Holiday Train" writing is red, and the other adornments are a variety of colours. I found in my long exposures that the blue tends to dominate the other colours a bit; that being said, Warren, I think you could try warming yours up a bit as it does seem too blue to my eye - the greens seem to be trending towards turquoise.

You could have done a 4:5 crop, reduced the foreground and kept the moon.

Agree with Jim, plus do a digital "dodge" and darken that foreground dirt, it looks weird with that amount of exposure.

Well, it's too late for him to move the moon down in the frame. He'd get rejected for digital manipulation. However, had he done it before submitting, no one would have known.

The lights actually change color every few seconds.

Appreciated, Jim; something in my head kept telling me I needed to preserve the original aspect ratio for whatever reason. Thanks everyone again.
