PPI? Is for the web DPI is for printing a photo 300 DPI is what I fine print on an ink jet would be or screen if printing in a magazine. If you send them a 72 they wont take it to much loss if detail. Most want a full size TIFF with no Photo Shopping at all. A full page at 300 DPI is just Under 15 MP IIRC.
Pixels Inch is what you see in photoshop just set at 72 thats all the monitor can show you! Unless you go to 100% to see how good the photo is sharp wise.
