Default Doomed

While I know RP's stance on low orange-cast sunlight and toning it back, which I did not, and is the culprit behind the first rejection reason, and that it could be fixed, but I refuse to fix the second rejection reason. I'm not torn up over it not making it on here as it is not worth my trouble to fight the system. Maybe Thias will show me the light that I am wrong...

Part of me is curious as to why I am even starting this thread, but I guess a second set of eyes can tell me if I am just a victim of my poor processing, or if I got bit by the human element of RP.

Looks OK to me. Light is what it is.

I don't know about the light but for some reason the numberboards are bugging the hell out of me.

It's a little too juicy. Make it taste a little more bland and they'll probably like it. And as for being unlevel, it looks fine, especially when you compare it to this accepted shot:

C'mon, Jim. This is the not the first time a 50 year old shot has been cut a break. It is presumably the full extent of the original slide, without cropping.

Still, it's odd that some shots that are ever-so-slightly off (if at all) get kicked back, while some that are way off get accepted.

Only 41 years and change for this one, I had to level .3 degree and then sharpen more. Not complaining as it probably better but reality is by the time I clean it up, scan, process, get rid of specks etc, caption, then go through a couple rejections I have a little investment in time.

I give Marty a lot of credit. He comes up with multi posts per day and must be time consuming, if catches a little break I don't have a problem and I would rather see the whole scene.

The only excuse for not correcting something like that is if went directly from the scanner to being uploaded. If any processing was done in photoshop or another editing program, there is zero excuse for not leveling that shot. The age of a photo is irrelevant if any processing was done.

Jim had the answer, backed off the saturation over all and didn't touch the level of the photo.

I don't see enough difference to justify a rejection the first time around. I think somebody at RP just changed RP's collective mind. At best the rejection was a nit pick, and that is cutting the screener some slack. I can understand some inconsistency because there is so much judgement involved, but some times ya really have to wonder what is going through the screener's mind.

John, it may also be a case where the first screener saw something and the different second screener wasn't so sensitive regarding that particular category of nit pick, or it was one of those cases where one might call it one way at 10am and the other way at 10pm. I think that sort of inconsistency happens a lot. I don't know how to avoid it, especially with volunteer screeners.
