Default PAQ and color

What is the screener seeing when he says bad color? Is it the color of the buildings? As far as the PAQ, it is what it is. I don't like seeing the new signals either.

If anything I guess tone down the red, but I don't really think it needs that. The screener might have meant to hit the cloudy day button instead.

Get a different angle on a sunny day and that should take away the PAQ.

OMG. CSX had to put ugly modern highway-style signals right in a historical district? Shame!

Certainly not the optimum lighting for you there Carl. I'm not really seeing a hue issue, but the light is extremely flat and boring. You could doll it up in editing with contrast and saturation, but the sky is still blown out and indicative of a cloud bone.

And yes, the new signals suck. I cut my teeth on the old C&O and wasted many a day in Thurmond. So it goes.

I'm curious as to why they are putting up elaborate cantilevered monsters, when, say 50 years ago a simple pole on the main and a dwarf on the siding would suffice. Federal grant money, perhaps?

I think that it is due to the requirements of PTC installation. I'd prefer them to preserve the character of the area by painting the existing bridge before adding the new signal heads, but clearly that isn't happening.

It all has to do with visibility...

Newsflash: CSX doesn't care about railfans.

Truth! The majority of the new signals installed on the old C&O are pole signals, except where signals on the sides of the road bed would be harder to see at a distance due to sight lines.
