Railfanning and gas prices

Hello all, just wondering how gas prices have affected your railfanning adventures this summer?

between heat, (temp), transportation costs, and sheer laziness,

i haven't gone/been anywhere this summer

I like the "sheer laziness" comment. Gas prices havent changed my railfanning adventrues. I just find more people to come in my car to subsidize the cost of gas.

Well, I will say that I did try and combine my railfanning trips along with other activities, so that I didn't just use the gas for railfanning. For example, I started stopping in Lockport before work in the mornings(thus why most of my images from this summer are from Lockport), since it was right on the way.

Well they probably would have affected me more if other problems hadn't. At least now when I do have more time for railfanning, prices have dropped almost a whole $.

Me and my old man went railfanning saturday and we got gas for $1.97 i couldnt belive it but price have dropped to lows that havent been seen in like 2 years

Once gas hit $3, I cut way back on my outings. Now that the prices are lower, I've got a couple of small trips that I'd like to do but finding some free time is not easy.

I'm just amazed how a 2 in a half year thread got revived, haha. But, I guess it is getting to that time where the heat draws out everyone out of their houses.....or, if gas goes up (for now, just staying level at a decent price of 2.09 for these tough times) they'll stay at home. I have an economy car and gas doesn't bother me at all to tell you the truth. Now, if it goes up to 4 a gallon again, that view might change.

Back in my previous life, me and my buds paid no attention whatsover to gas prices. We went where and when we wanted and if gas was $.99, fine; if it was &1.99, fine. That was not EVEN a consideration. Our main consideration was going "where the sun was and the clouds wasn't", and how much film to bring/buy, and the location of the nearest Target in case we ran out. Hell, I remember more than once us getting together and fretting about not having enough dough to bribe hostlers to break up consists for us! Wow, those were the days.

When gas prices started going really haywire in my current family life, it had a slight affect on basic travel considerations for family outings, but still as far as fanning goes, I can't say that they have much if any consideration.
