Well, you know what they say, Photography much like beauty is all in the eye of the beholder, and in the lost gems term, just not enough saw the beauty in the photography, anyway, here are some of mine that i though would have made more of a splash so to speak, and it looks like john found one of mine for me....lol, thanks john

Andrew, at least many of these shots are up over 500 views, that's a pretty high level at least by my standards. Too bad about the comments, true. My favorite is not the yard/eve shot but the flowers, comment entered.

Also, to get a thumbnail into your post, do

[photoid=xxxxxx]

where the x's are replaced by the ID number of your shot

I was wondering how you did that, thanks, ya, i wasnt sure what qualified as a lost gem, 500 is a pretty neutral number, half of 1000 and 1000 is a lot of views

Not surprisingly a lot of great pix have over a 1000 hits. But they can still be "lost" simply because of the sheer size of the data base and the fact they were never SC, POTW, or PCA. One criteria might be to see if they have had any hits in the last 30 days. What I hope eventually evolves is some kind of selective process that allows this stuff to be recycled routinely. On the other hand, obviously some of us are having fun doing these more or less random searches.

AWESOME find, Mitch. I followed up your comment. I can't believe only three people in over a thousand views left a comment! Unbelievable.

Default Of lost gems & duds

This is one that I've always liked (can still feel the ground shake!), but it was in the first thousand photos on the site, and I suspect is pretty buried at this point:

Wow George, that is a great shot that I never would have found on my own! All the shots I see submitted of Cajon nowadays seem so generic, that I'm not entirely sure what the draw of Cajon is. I've never been to Cajon before (that will change in a few months!) but when I get there, I want to look to take a few shots from angles like that!

Ken, there is still time for you to enter a comment on George's great picture.

Yeah, I actually commented on it before I wrote the post!

BTW John, I never did get around to thanking you for commenting on one of my photos about a month ago. Even though it's languishing as the least viewed of my photos, it's still one of my favorite shots.

I like to say that a comment is worth 100 views...
And a comment from one of my three favorite RP.net photographers is worth 500 views! (go ahead and blush)

Interesting comment above. A photo this good deserves more than 153 hits.

And it's backlit, too! Chris should have set a better example for us budding railroad photographers.

Here's a couple or less that I found while rooting around

It's got less than 500 views, and three comments.. but I checked photo history, and it's been looked at a few times in 30 days.. so maybe it doesn't really fit here..

A very creative way to see things, would have never thought of this.. there's a train reflected in the light in this one.

Sure it's only been on since this morning, but am I missing something as to why people are not interested?

It's a puzzle! Nothing comes to mind.

On the other hand, it is 81st of 139 at this moment for today's submissions. Not exactly at the end of the pack. I personally would think it would be somewhat higher in the ranking, but not near the top. I'll attribute it to random variation!

I must have blown right by that one, I didn't even notice it amongst recent submissions. As usual, you go a little beyond what most photographers would and are rewarded with a nice shot.

I am surprised that this one didn't get more hits. The lighting is great.
