Default Well Shucks...

Well... What do you guys think? No doubt they do obstruct but I was hoping all the people might add a little interest.

a) before I forget, congrats on some nice shots in ToL24, well done!

b) people add interest, backsides add, well, not so much

c) it is all a jammed together muddle to me - the people add less than they take away -there are way too many of them, for one (great for UP, though!)

I have to agree with JRMDC, the people just dont really pop out the way i'd wanna see, color would look better IMO...
also the people that got cut in half on each side don't appeal :P

Thanks man. I appreciate it.

I also have a shot like this. In this frame, no one is cutoff. The one thing I don't like is the ugly warehouse and poles on the left. I would cut them out but compositionally and cropping wise, they need to be in. What do you guys think. I'll continue to go through more frames to see if anything jumps out at me.

I just found this one. No one is cutoff and the warehouse is out of the way. What do you guys think? Shots like these are really tough to figure out...

Oh btw this was the quick edit. Much more would be done to this shot before it was fully ready to rock.

On the second one, if you have one where no one is obstructing the front of the steam engine, then I'd say go for that one. On the rejection, if you'[re going for this kind of sot, I'd go wide. This is basically an obstructed wedgie. Show more of the scene. Also, not a dan of the B&W concersion. Looks too grey to me.

Did you happen to get a shot from the 174 overpass (bridge in the background) as it rolled into town around the curve? If not, please tell me someone did.

I went to Long Ravine Trestles instead of the Highway 174 overpass. I think Mike Haire got the shot from the overpass though.

Talking The backs of too many heads.

It is a pain to get good clear shots at these rail events.

Here is one that I was able to use some of the people all standing around to my advantage.

I waited until they were taking their picture and I got mine.

I'm going to try to ignore how creepy that sounds. Yeah I knew there was know way to get a clear shot at this event. Too much foam, too many looky loos, too many police officers... Anyways thanks for the help guys. I got another reject and I might share it later.

Excellent. I got a nice no-train shot in perfect sunlight one of the times I was there. Always wished I could go back and get a train there. Instead, somehow I opted to photograph Welchy from down below. I don't know why we didn't go up on the bridge as this would have been my perfect diesel choice for a shot, not to mention the sun angle was great for the train coming around the curve:

Lightbulb

I am surprised that got on since there is no nose light on Whelchie's head.

Or perhaps that "is" why it got on - because of Welchie's head.
