Default Help on 3 snow shots

On Dec. 10th I took 3 snow shots and they were rejected, and I need help

The first was rejected for Bad Contrast and Bad Cropping. I know that I did brighten it up too much.

The second was rejected for bad cropping. I think this photo is just a little bright too but it wasn't rejected for that.

The third was rejected for bad contrast.

I really need help on the cropping issue of the first 2, but I think I can fix the bad contrast part.

Thank you in advance.

I think maybe if you trimmed some off the right of the photo. I think it was rejected because you were trying to make the locomotive the centerpiece of the picture, thereby leaving alot of empty space to the right of it.

Just my $.02

OK that's sounds right. I wanted the flying snow along the train to be the centerpiece, and obviously the train in with it too.

I'll probably wait for a few other people to post their thoughts before reuploading.

i think that you should crop from right and from above the locomotive
from right try to crop about 0.3 from the empty distance.
from above try to crop about 0.25 from the empty distance.
nice pix and let us know what will the screener say.

Well I did what both of you suggested but they were all rejected again.

I think the cropping the right side off was good but for some reason they get rejected for bad contrast.........any suggestions?

They last photo was rejected for poor lighting. What the heck! It was rejected for bad contrast before but then when I tone the lighting down a bit it gets rejected for poor lighting. I saw a photo just the other day that was accepted into the database just like the third photo. It was a photo of a metra train in Chicago in heavy snow(no flying snow beside the train). I dont know how it could be accepted and not mine if they're pretty much the same.

Anyway, help on the contrast would really help me.

When you lighten a picture, you lower the overall contrast. You must now add a little bit of contrast back in, and maybe a little saturation. Once you have the snow white, rather than blue or gray, don't lighten any more, the snow on the bottom looks a little washed out.

When you crop, make the engine the center of attention, the blowing snow will just add to the picture, but have the engine 2/3 of the way from the left, and 2/3 the distance from the top down (on the original, crop some from the bottom and the right).

It's no use I cant get them accepted. They're right where they need to be. If I brighten them, they get rejected for bad contrast, if I darken them they get rejected for poor lighting

Here's the latest version of the first photo

Oh well

Well, don't be discouraged, you have 56 other nice photos in the database, and there will always be more snow. Just keep trying, and I'm sure you will get some more in.
