Default Still Too Dark?

Hey Guys,

Well I've tried 4 times to get this in, and it's time for some input.

Here's the shot:

http://www.railpictures.net/viewreje...2&key=24117316

My question - Any suggestions on how/ how much to brighten this shot? I've made 3 attempts at brightening, and none got the shot in. I'm afraid that if I make the shot any brighter, it will not look right. Maybe I'm missing something.

Any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately brightening it won't help. The poor lighting rejection in this case is because of the overcast sky. For common power such as Amtrak P42DC's, the lighting has to be near perfect. I understand your frustration, I traveled to Maine a year or two ago and tried to photograph the Downeaster, only I was met with constant rain and was unable to submit anything I shot. Simply put, if possible, try shooting again on a sunny day.

I agree with Matt's input and would also say that the front of the loco looks a tad soft.

Thanks for the input guys. Yeah, I somewhat knew that this shot would have trouble making it in; I just really liked the leaves in the shot. Well, fall will be here in a couple of months, and I'll give it another shot.

Everytime I go out to look for one of the illusive Pan Am freight trains, they never appear and Amtrak ends up taking the show; so there is hope.
