Question What the Fuck Is This?

You know, I don't normally call people out but what the hell is this?

Image © Craig Walker
PhotoID: 351073
Photograph © Craig Walker

Why?

This ain't even a wedgie and there isn't even a spike or a plate involved.

I mean really, can I submit this too?

The Haight Ain't What it Used to Be

And you know, Craig Walker is a way better photographer than that so why is he submitting a picture of a notice in a window and why is that worthy of a RP.Net post?

I am beginning to feel as outraged as Mr. Benson was a while back.

The axe I have to grind in this, I submitted this image:

Winter at Mile Post 57.25X

and of course it was rejected since there is no train.

Cause if there is a train, it is ok:

So if people can submit the photo referenced above, why is mine not acceptable?

And really it is ok, I am just frustrated and I just think it is crap, but it is not my Web Site.

I have no problem with grinding axes. I think you have a legitimate beef.

That's because it wasn't as good as this no-train shot:

It is funny, I don't beef that often but this is too much.

P.S. - I think I ran into Mr. Walker when I shot this:

Snow Comes to Cajon

I hope you were able to detect the facetious tone in my post.

Your right Jim, that one just kicks ass and I suck and I should just shut about now.

Admit it, it is the lack of ties in my shot that really leaves it lacking.

Never mind.

You know, that is actually of something railroad related and not some note in a window.

That is my real complaint - it is a freaking paper in a window.

Why is that worthy of a place in the date base?

Can I now start submitting my copies of NS operating procedure pages that I found along side the ROW in Cajon?

The first one no (truth!), the second one yes, obviously.

The first one was taken from the shoulder of the entrance road to grandview state park near Prince, WV, the track curves to the left of where I was standing.

I wish it were mine. It's actually a sign on the side of an old freight building...along an old GTW line. haha

You can see it on the white building:

Honestly, that is what I thought when I saw this. Did you not have a frame of the nose of the train? This looks like a complete grab shot, and I don't know why RP didn't reject it for "bad angle".

Damnit, now I am pissed legitimately.

How did this get in without getting rejected for "foreground obstruction" and these 2 got rejected for foreground obstruction for just blocking part of the trucks?

No doubt, that is a grab.

I did not get up there in time to catch the front of that train.

It was the first set of shots I took when I got up to the turnout on Hwy. 138.

Here is the first train I got from up there that morning.

The total whiteness of the Pass and an un-patched SP 343 made it pretty neat and of all the shots I took that day, I have to admit I like that one the most.

But you are right, from a photographic point of view, it sucks unless you dig un-patched SP units.

However, if you are a regular visitor to the pass, you will look at that and say wow!

Further, I am glad that RP.Net took it because it is an awesome picture of that part of Cajon.

It is all about the SP unit.

I went through three versions of this to get it accepted.

The picture really is only significant for the amount of white and that SP unit.

Other than than that, it is just another Summit shot.

At least I didn't photo shop the snow in.......

Sounds like a plan. I also made a comment that made it through that screening process.

Cool La la la!

I don't know, I don't have any blade to grind with Mr. Walker per se, it is the screeners that got me going.

If he can get this in the database more power to him, but it is not his best work.

Whatever......
