Default The New Digital Rebel

The new Rebel has been announced, the 400D. I have a 300D and have been thinking about upgrading to the 30D. But won't the 400D use different batteries than the 300D? I'm deathly afraid of the 300D shutting down on me and leaving me cameraless, and that 10.1 vs. 6.3 megapixels looks pretty interesting.

It's a tough call, but I'd stick with buying the 30D, it's just a much better built camera. The anti-dust mechanisms on the xti are intriguing, but don't be enamored by the 2 extra MP, because it's not that much of a gain over the 8MP 30D.
I've still got a 300D, but because of reliability issues, I stepped up to the 20D. You can hear the quality difference in those two cameras merely by tripping the shutter (pentamirror vs pentaprism).

Default 400d

I'd hold on Joe, next year (Feb) should see the release of the 30D replacement, I expaect that will have the anti dust stuff etc. Maybe even the digic 3 processor?

Also as mentioned the build quality of the 30D (40D?) is far better than the 300D, 350D, 400D.

You get what you pay for.

I have to admitt I was somewhat taken aback by how the 350D felt in my hands. My ex-boss had one and the difference between my 300D and his newer version was somewhat amazing. I probably would not be able to get anything until next Feb. or March anyway, so maybe I will hold off. I just know if soething happens to my 300D, I'm going to be impossible to live with.

I'm shooting with a 350D. I've had it since January and am still learning more about it. I'm saving up for a good "L" lens, hopefully (maybe a 70-200 F/4L).
