Default BEST lLens

needadvise on the best lens for shoting trains
i have digital rebel now and looking for a better lens

most all of the Cannon lens are of good quality, including the ones that feature IS, although that feature tends to suck the camera batteries dry rather quick. I believe Sigma also has some decnt stuff, although I dont own any of the brand. The old adage of "you get what you pay for" seems to be true for making a choice on a lens...

If you shoot a lot of wide angle stuff, keep in mind the conversion factor with the sensors on the Cannon DSLR's...you might want to look at a wider angle lens that you might normaly use to over come that... Good glass is just as important (maybe more) than the body itself...investigate, and choose what will suit your needs...
