Cool Union Pacific Heritage Poll

I am starting this poll, due to a request by another thread i started called 'get a load of these babies'. The debate is what paint version should Union Pacific paint the Southern Pacific tribute unit. Please Vote, i think it would be interesting! Here is a picture of each.

I voted for the SP Bloody nose color scheme, i love the way it looks on the SD70M, the few SP had, and i think it would look swell on the ACE unit.

i went ahead and did that research myself, and voted for black widow because thats classic SP paint, and thats how a heritage unit should look. the daylight, i have seen pictures of SD40's in daylight, and they looked bad.

UP 1996 I believe will be the SP unit, while 1995 will be the CNW unit.

But as we found out recently, the schemes aren't going to be exactly as they were, but a mix of the colors and schemes. So we might see a bloody nose with some black widow styling on the long hood.

All speculation, of course, but UP absorbed CNW in 1995 and SP in 1996.

I'll take the "Bloody Nose" scheme any day over the other choices.

On another note, has anyone else noticed that Dick Davidson refers to "merging" with said railroads? I guess that sounds a lot better than "hostile takeover."

Keep in mind that many of UP's senior managers have come from the MP. That said, haven't you noticed how UP graciously has kept part of the proud names of several of the predecessor roads?

Union PACIFIC = Missouri PACIFIC - Southern PACIFIC - Western PACIFIC

And, of course before that, Texas & PACIFIC, Central PACIFIC

Smile SP Bloody Nose

I'd like to see it in the Bloody Nose. That's my favorite SP paint scheme.

My guess is that it will be a combination of the black widow scheme and the bloody nose scheme.

I'm predicting that it there will be SP red on the front of the nose, no nose wings on the side of the nose, and with the side of the engine gray until the middle of the engine block, where a design similar to nose wings will separate the gray with black from the black widow scheme, the on the long hood there will be a daylight logo.

It it turns out this way, each member of these forums will have to pay me $1,000,000.

Face it, what ever it turns out to be, the styling will be to the point where it has little resemblance of any SP scheme.. You gotta give UP credit for at least trying, but man...those things look like something straight out off of MTV's " Pimp My ride".....Fix-a-hoopty indeed...

The only one they managed to miss was Northern Pacific. Too bad for them.

Any idea if UP will do a Rio Grande heritage unit? Also, just out of curiosity, why is this in Eastern U.S. Railroad Discussion?

Default Union Pacific Heritage Poll

I'd vote for a combination of "Black Widow" & "Daylight". (The red from the third scheme will be there; sorry about that, gray!)
