Default Lancaster and Chester 10/10 and 10/11

Having not shot the L&C moving much since Summer 2012, I went up on two straight days last week. It turned out to be well worth it both train and weather-wise. On Thursday, I first caught them working the tracks in East Chester near Southeastern Petroleum.

They then went up to the interchange in Chester where we found the NS local was waiting for them.

I was hoping to be able to get some shots of both sets of power in the frame and it turned out luck was on my side. I was also able to get my first shots of the 2273 front uncoupled.

The L&C cut off from their cars so the NS could couple onto them and take them to Rock Hill.

So the next day I went back up and caught the same power heading to Richburg.

Figuring I had got some good shots of the LC 2273, I went off in search of the second train. I found it in Lancaster, but got my first shot of it in Fort Lawn.

The end cabs were not online and I wondered if they might be taking them to Richburg to leave them over the weekend, but they passed Richburg without stopping. I went to Knox Farms in hopes of some good shots. For some reason, I have had some trouble in the past getting good, in focus shots here. In hindsight, I believe I uploaded the wrong version to RP.

The train went to the wye in East Chester where they interchanged with the other crew, then went onto the wye to pick up their new train to take back to Kershaw. But first, they put the end cabs online.

They left back toward Lancaster.

They stopped in Richburg this time to pick up more cars.

At this point, I knew the sun would start backlighting the train, but I still chased it until it was time to go home. Even though both trains were behind me, I went through Kershaw which is out of the way for me to get from Lancaster to Columbia. Not sure why I did this, but it was a really good idea because I caught the ADMX crew off of property picking up some cars.

But that wasn't all the shots I would get. On Saturday, we went back to Lancaster to visit the in-laws and found the second train had tied down for the weekend in Heath Springs. They parked in such a spot where I could light up the train with my headlights on one side.

Thanks, Derek. I didn't try that one for some reason. I thought about it, but thought I may be reaching the L&C-saturation point on RP for a month or so!
