Cropping Advice

I had the following photo rejected for bad cropping:

I took some off the bottom, but it was rejected again:

Any thoughts?

Take off the top instead of the bottom. I'm not sure that is possible, though, because the original shot did not have too much ground. Try to balance the train in the picture if you can, otherwise, try to do so in the camera next time. There was too much sky to start, and the second try made that worse. If you can crop it this way, I don't see any other reason it should be rejected. Lighting and everything else looks fine.

I agree with Pat. Less sky is usually better here, unless there's something cool in it. If you can its best to think in rules of thirds, except place the horizon closer to the top third when ever possible.

Nice to see it got in . . . I thought it a nice looking picture. I like a lot of sky so that did not bother me. Running the rails into the lower left corner seems to work well here. I know it is not 'correct' in the outside world, but at times those rules work against you with trains, here.

Your white balance with the grey engine being your focus and thus your meter point is very nice.
