Digital print enlargements

What is the maximum size you can get out of the Canon Digital Rebel shooting a size of 3072 x 2048 without losing quality of the print. 16" x 20" or 20" x 30" ? Thanks for any info. Got a few from Rich Mountain this weekend I'd like to enlarge.. Chris

The maximum print size is 16x20... I have a friend who is looking into buying a Digital Rebel and researched this.

While were on the subject, any feedback you could offer about the camera would be greatly appreciated.

I'm VERY pleased with the images of the Digital Rebel, as well as its versatility. Once coupled with the L line of lenses, it can make unbelievable shots. Too me, not much difference between the 10D and Rebel other than the 10D can shot simultaneously RAW & JPEG. The Rebel can shoot either RAW or JPG, BUT the RAW image does have a embedded smaller JPEG file than can be extracted. If the camera is more for hobby than for professional images, the Rebel in my opinion is the way to go. I've seen some images that the Nikon D70 had produced and to me the Canon Dig Rebel images were better. Just my opinion, and as you know opinions are like other things, everybody has mine...Just my two cents worth. Chris

While you may lose some quality, you can go larger than 16x20. A full size 6.3MP .jpg of this image http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=69396 from my D70 was used in the making of this trade show booth.

Richard, can you elaborate on the full-size 6.3 megapixel JPEG?
That is nearly the size of a Raw image from my Canon 20D.

I would be surprised if the D70 produced JPEGs of that
size at its highest setting [for JPEGs].

The Large/Fine JPEG setting on the digital rebel gives you an image roughly 3072 x 2048 pixels. Usually this size is good up to 16x20, but i just received a shot I took at Page OK on the KCS Shreveport Sub and had it enlarged to 20" x 30", not losing any quality at all.

Dave, I think you are getting MegaPixels and Megabytes confused. Shooting on the highest quality .JPG setting, the file size of the photo is roughly 2.7 Megabytes (not MegaPixels).
