What are your favorite railroads? These can be fallen flags or current railroads, regionals, shortlines, etc...
Mine top five are:
1. CSX
2. Guilford Transportation
3. Conrail
4. Providence & Worcester and Connecticut Southern
5. Chessie System
Just thought it might be interesting to see what you guys come up with.

I have started to like local operator Syntus quite a bit. They are quite small, only about 30 odd trains running in the East of the Netherlands only.
They started 3 or 4 years ago and performed dreadfully. Nowadays they have pulled themselve together. They are quite reliable, more so then the NS is. Moreover, they doubled the frequency from 2 per hour to 4. Only disadvantage is that during the rush hours the trains are very crowded, but that is the same everywhere in the Netherlands so I suppose I can't blame them really.

And where train companies go, Eurostar and Thalys rank very high too! I haven't got pics of the Eurostar just yet. In a few weeks I will be taking them to London though, so expect some nice (interior) pics!

Oh yeah, I like BNSF, too. But just because of their engines and their livery!

Conrail (R.I.P., but at least you can still see the old blue paint still rolling!) and Canadian National have always been my faves.

I'll get heat for this probably. See the qualifying notes before flaming me..
1. Amtrak
2. Penn Central
3. Conrail
4. PRR
I am really into heavy electric railroading. I grew up with F40s and AEM7s on the HBG line, and have been hooked since. Regretfully, my love of Amtrak ended in the 95 to 2000 time frame, when P40s began to rule, and phase III paint went away. Sorry, HHP8s and Acelas don't impress me. AEM7s are almost 25 years old and still kicking, whilst Acelas and HHP8s seem only marginally reliable. I still shoot the electrics on the NEC, but it just ain't the same. Oh well.
Amtrak and PC had seperable entanglement during the 70s early 80s, and CR/PRR ran awesome electric trains. There is my list.
Many in my area say I have a pantograph on my head and pull juice from the ceiling tile rails in my office. Kind of a shame 95% of what I enjoy shooting is gone, and now my E60s have also vanished. I am fortunate enough to have #603 reside very close to my home, and I can go see it whenever. Best Regards all.
