The filename can not contain either of these characters

\ / : * ? " < > |

So if your filename contains those characters, then that's your problem. Just simply rename the file.

try reducing the size of your photos. I shout with a nikon D70 in large jpg alot and I have to reduce the file size for the railpict server to accept it. The ASCII error is what I get when I submit stuff that is too big. Just another possibility.

OK, I have a bunch of pictures of the 261 in the Quad Cities. I was standing on a bridge and I submitted two of the photos I took from it.

This one got accepted.

This one was rejected for being "similar" to that one.

Do you think they are too similar, or should they both be accepted?

I think they are too similar. They are basically the same, just that one is closer than the other.

Nice photo btw!

I screened both of those, and felt the second one was way to simular to the one that was acctepted, plus the subject was farther away creating a cropping issue with way to much dead space at the bottom of the image...the first one was of excellant quality and subject matter!

Off subject, you folks up that way are making me jealous...all that steam running around in great weather and wonderful scenery, wish I could have been there!
