Default A recent modeling project

Here's a recent project I finished to run on my layout. It's an Overland K36 in O scale that was redetailed with PSC and scratched parts. It has two decoders to run all the lights, motor and sound. I just need to find a decent crew to put in the cab.

i have an idea for your crew chris;

Have the engineer pulling on the throttle with his right elbow/arm on the window ledge. As for the Fireman, have him shovelling coal and put an orange light in the fire box to act as the fire. You would have to connect the light to the headlights of course!

I was thinking of doing this to my HO scale K36s.

I understand that Tamiya makes a kit where they have separate body parts like torso, arms, legs, and head. I'd like to find that kit and do just that.

The lights are already there. The firebox is DCC controlled with yellow, orange, and red flame simulator bulbs. There are three cab lights, headlights, and all number boards are lit. These are all DCC controlled. The sound is provided by a Tsunami sound decoder.

Cool

Damn!

That's nice detailing, weathering and photography! Your 486 looks outstanding.

Now all you need beside the cab crew is to do a B&W conversion....

Or green screen the background and add it to a photo where they don't run now???????? Maybe fun to see.

Thanks for the nice compliments. I'm working on a small fleet of these engines to run my Marshall Pass to Gunnison with a branch to Crested Butte layout. Track work is almost complete and will be starting scenery shortly. I have some canvas frames up which I painted blue and now am ready for the rest of the backdrop painting.

The layout is approximately 30' by 40'. Track is all hand laid with 60" min. radius and #10 turnouts built in place to flow with turns. Curves are super elevated. It's a double decker walk around style layout. Operations are set around the fall 1949 stock rush season. I have 36 stock cars finished so far. Each one is unique, built according to Victor Stones book. I run long trains with helpers cut in the middle and also on the rear. All with their own distinct sounds. It's pretty cool to watch. It really runs flawless.

I'm also working on structures, since some of them have to be installed before I start putting in actual scenery.

Here's some more pictures and a B&W for Dennis.

All I can say is WOW I fell in love with the D&RGW NG when I visited the area back in 2000. Came home and started selling off all of my HO Western Maryland stuff and started in HOn3 and never looked back.

Thanks for the B&W Chris! They were a delicious way to start my day.

(Almost makes me want to model again)

And also again, superb modeling with matching photography.

I've been working on a fleet of narrow gauge boxcars for my On3 layout and here's a couple of pictures of the first one to be completed. I still need to weather the rest of them.

I also entered that K36 and a drop bottom gondola in the contest at the last narrow gauge convention. Both models took first place. There's a picture of both of them in the latest Narrow Gauge and Shortline Gazette if interested.
